Interview With James & Jocelyn

I find people interesting; I always have. Blogging has allowed me to meet a variety of different people, from countries across the world.

I decided to try and compose a method of both myself and you, my readers, exploring the lives and opinions of inspiring individuals within the creative industries. I thought that interviewing these people would provide this, allowing an insight into their opinions and how they got to the point they are.

The first person I contacted is James Vincent; he is a model and blogger based in the UK and is certainly very photogenic!

Hi! Can you please tell those reading a little bit about yourself?

My name is James Vincent, I'm a blogger from Worcester, and also a model.

What initially attracted you to the world of blogging?

I was attracted to blogging when I was in University, I liked the idea of expressing my opinions and interests!

What do you love most about what you do?

What I love most is meeting people, there's so many amazing bloggers and this community brings everyone's together.

What, would you say, has been your proudest moment so far?

Proudest moment... that's a hard one, I suppose I would say working on Suzuki as it was my biggest campaign, but the proudest moment is when someone comes to you for help, as they see you as an inspiration; that's a feeling that doesn't leave you, being able to help someone.

How would you like to move forward, in regards to your career/blog?

Hmmm... where would I like to go? Just keep growing my blog, keep working with inspirational people and cool brands.

What advice would you give to someone just starting out?

A piece of advice: be you, be unique and be persistent and most of all, have fun with it.

The other person I decided to get in touch with for this post was Jocelyn; she is a girl of a similar age to me, who lives in the United States. She has recently had to have a pretty major operation, and her positive attitude towards it really inspired me to focus on the positives!

Blue Heels in Boston // Life in a Leotard

Hi! Can you please tell those reading a little bit about yourself?

So my name is Jocelyn, and I am the creator and writer for Life in a Leotard, a lifestyle blog focusing on ballet and what matters most, as well as whatever suits my fancy. I am a full time student and serious ballet student, so I have my hands full keeping up with blogging, although I usually get a post up once a week!

What initially attracted you to the world of blogging?

I love the freedom and creativity of blogging, and I think that is what initially attracted me to it. No two blogs are alike!

What do you love most about what you do?

I'll answer this one about ballet. I love so many things about ballet, but most of all the challenge it offers. It's physically impossible to be perfect at it, but with hard work you can get as close as you possibly can! I also love that there are almost no ways to "cheat," only the hard workers will improve!

What, would you say, has been your proudest moment so far?

I would say that so far, my proudest moment has been receiving my dance studio's annual merit scholarship this past year.

How would you like to move forward, in regards to your career/blog?

In regards to my blog, I would like to move forward in creating a more consistent posting schedule, improving my photography (that's a big one), and building my brand!

What advice would you give to someone just starting out?

To someone just starting out, whether in ballet, blogging, anything: find what you love and go for it. Go all in, and work as hard as you possibly can. One of the questions I like to ask myself for motivation is: if this project/post/performance is the thing someone makes their impression of me based on, will I be proud of that? So to anyone starting out, work as hard as you can and make no excuses, it will pay off!
